Impromptu Slideshow problems

I am running LR 1.3.1 and since I upgrade from 1.3 everytime I activate the impromptu slideshow, the screen goes blank (grey) and nothing happens. No slide show. Images are selected and rendered at standard size preview. My video/graphics card is update with the current drivers. I am on Vista. All else seems to be running normally. Is there an issue with LR 1.3.1 and when will the next update be. Any advise or possible solutions would be greatly appreciated.

I have not seen this problem for a very long time but used to suffer more than most on Windows XP and it was traced to my graphics card.

Is it just the impropmtu slideshow that fails or does it also fail when you press Play or run the slideshow by clicking the > in the preview area?

AFAIK, Slideshow uses Direct X. I'm not on Vista but I'm wondering if there has been a Direct X update recently that may have messed up?

When you say all else is running normally, does that mean you can run a slideshow from the Slideshow module directly?

Do you calibrate and profile your monitor?

Mick,Rob thanks your your response. I just installed the latest version of Directx 1' from the windows sight and the problem continues. To be more specific, I get a blank screen in impromtu slide show. When I go to the slide show module I get the same blank screen when I hit the play button the lower right of the interface. If I hit the play button on the lower left of the interface, LR will play the selected photos. Puzzling. I am on a Dell XPS I got about six months ago so hardware is fresh. Again I did not have any problems until the 1.3.1 update. HELP!

These problems always seem to relate back to the video card driver. I know you said it was up to date, but I would suggest going to the site of your card's manufacturer, downloading and installing the latest driver for that card. Then try again.

This is a guess, but what size are your previews?

resolved - Slideshow is blank

I came here searching for help with the same problem. While looking at my drivers and DX settings I happened to realize that I had enabled custom Identity Plate in LR. As soon as I disabled the custom identity plate the slide show works fine...
