Importing Videos - Connecting to Dynamic Link server failed error

Any ideas how I can import iPhone 7 and Nikon D500 videos? When I import I get this Connecting to Dynamic Link server failed error and the videos won't import. I am running the latest as of tonight. Just updated. I have rebooted my Windows 10 v 1809 build. The videos will play on my desktop, they just won't import into LR. I deleted the DynamicMedia folders from the Roaming\Adobe folder and that did not help. I don't have QuickTime installed. I think I uninstalled it the last time I was having video import issues. Anyone succeed in getting Videos to import? Or am I stuck until Adobe decides to support the Most Compatible iPhone video format? But that does not explain why the Nikon D500 videos won't import. I have the 2 iPhone High Efficiency video and Most Compatible videos and the D500 formats.

Thank you for any insights anyone might have about LR Classic and Video Import issues.

No idea, I'm on a Mac. Does you graphics card meet the requirements?

* AMD: Radeon GPU with DirectX 12 or OpenGL 3.3 support.
* Intel: Skylake or newer GPU with DirectX 12 support.
* NVIDIA: GPU with DirectX 12 or OpenGL 3.3 support.
* OpenGL 3.3 and DirectX 10-capable video adapter for GPU-related functionality.
* 1 GB of Video RAM (VRAM). 2 GB of dedicated VRAM (4 GB recommended) for large, high-resolution monitors, such as 4K- and 5K-resolution monitors

If all else fails, you could try re-encoding the video before importing.

Thanks for trying. according to the spec on the NVIDIA card I have it supports DirectX 12 = The GeForce GTX 970 was a performance graphics card by NVIDIA, launched in September 2014. Built on the 28 nm process, and based on the GM204 graphics processor, in its GM204-200-A1 variant, the card supports DirectX 12.0.

How do I re-encode the videos? I have over 150 files. What software would you recommend?

It's working. No idea which of the following events did it
- LR Update (did not import videos)
- deleted the DynamicLink folders in the ..\roaming\adobe folder (not able to import)
- restarted (did not help)
- windows update
-iTunes install
-reboot
-ipad videos started to work and now I am able to import the videos.
-iphone videos from 2017 still won't import. I think those are HVEC
- current iphone videos with the Most Compatible setting are importing
-D500 videos are now importing.

So strange. No idea what the fix was? Maybe after deleting the DynamicLink folders I needed to reboot which I did not do. The windows update looks like a virus update unless I'm not seeing some other update in June.

Thanks for the info on HandBrake. I think I will need it to convert my 2017 videos to something LR Can import. Wish they would support HVEC.

I was looking for some answers, too. This looks like long outstanding error, either something with broken/failed processes of Dynamic Link Media Server which is used by Adobe Lightroom to import videos, or issue with codec support, or having too large files.
For me it's really random, but usually I do not have problem to import MOV file generated by my Canon camera. Occurs more often when you try to import AVI, or MP4 files generated by my Android phone, or my action camera (small pocket GoPro style camera - great for timelapses).

On Adobe Lightroom forums, there are lots of references to support folks telling people to delete their 'video cache' folder, or even answering that Lightroom is not an video editing program. Or killing stranded 'dynamiclinkmediaserver.exe' process, and restarting Lihgtroom.
As well what helps sometimes is to right click on the video file which is not being imported, and choose to open it by Lightroom.exe. You will get LR started with import dialog. In some cases importing the video using this method helps.
