Import Importing to wrong folder

Exact Lightroom Version (Help menu > System Info): Adobe CC

I am making a new folder on my external drive. When I go to import, I click on the new folder and then import. After import, the images do not show up where they should be. They go instead to a different folder in my folders. Please advise.

Please look at this thread, and tell us if that looks like your problem. If so, we need more information (screenhots) so we know the exact names of the folders.
