My wife uses a Canon 4'D digital camera, and today shot all her photos in RAW. When she went to import them into Lightroom they appeared to load, but we cannot locate them at all. One message said something about unrecognized format. Any help is appreciated.

Please post the version of LR your wife is using and O/S so that someone can advise if the 4'D is supported. I know it is in the latest version 2.5 but I am not sure if it is supported in the earlier versions V 1.x.

Hi Barnum!

It would help us to know:

  • [li]What version of LR[/li]
    [li]What OS and Version[/li]
[li]When you imported the files what directory did you send them to? Are they there?[/li]
[li]Are they still available on the card to re-import?[/li]
Thanks!

She is using Lightroom 1.1, and OS is Windows Vista Home Premium V2.

Not sure about what directory...wasn't there. When does the option to choose a directory come up?

They are still on the card. We tried reading the card as opposed to USB, but same thing.

If she is using V 1.1 then she can upgrade to V 1.4 for free. Then check to see if she can import the files.

Support for the Canon 4' D was provided in LR V 1.2 and ACR 4.2 so she needs to upgrade the version she is using.

Just a quick addition. The latest and most bug-free version of LR 1.x was 1.4.1. Look for 1.4.1 if you are going to upgrade. Good luck,
