importing images

When I try to import images, I get a message "The destination folder “/Volumes/xxx ” is not available." This is an external drive where I keep my images. Lightroom recognizes the drive because I can access and work on my images on that drive. In the past I have always imported to this drive.

Is the folder ‘xxx’ still on that drive? Lightroom does not say it can’t find the disk, but that particular folder on the disk.
