Importing from laptop with adjustments

I recently returned from a trip during which time I imported into a copy of my LR database, putting files on 2 portable hd's (1 of them a backup drive) as I read that I should in Seth Resnick's book. The problem I'm having is that none of the adjustments I made on the road are showing up. I am importing directly from the folders on my travel drives. How do I import with adjustments?

With "Import from Catalog...". That is where your adjustments reside unless you wrote XMP data out.
