Hi All

I am doing a BIG re-organization which includes my keywords. Having come up with a new set of keywords; I decided the best thing to do would be to delete all photos from lightroom and re-import them, then add keywords from the new set.

My problem is that when I import the files (.dng mostly) lightroom also imports the old keywords I had assigned, and adds them to my beautiful new set.

I am "copying the files to a new location" and using a metadata preset (Name, Copyright, etc.) when I import.

Can I import the files, which were in my catalog, without importing the keywords that I had previously assigned?

Thanks for any help in advance

DNG files will have the keywords read on import.. it's just how it works.

You'd be better off just deleting from the keyword list...

I had to do this myself for a series of keywords...
Click the first keyword in the list, then shift click the last.. Then hit delete. Immediatley rest a weight on the return key and let it run.. otherwise you need to confirm each delete! The weight will do this for you... Yes it looks daft, but it worked for me..

Alternatively, select all the images, then go to the Keywording panel on the right. When that shows all the keywords, click and select them all, then hit Delete. Finally use the Metadata > Purge Unused Keywords command. Not sure which method will be quicker - wait versus weight....
