Hello there.

I use lightroom since first version, all was ok. And last week i had reinstall my computer. And from that time (even i dont think, that this is the reason) all imported photos appear yellow in lightroom. But photos are ok! In other softs seems normally, and when i export "yellow photo" in lightroom is ok too.
But its impossible to develop picture when you dont see the real colors.
I am hopeless. I tried reinstall soft million times, all versions. Deleting application data etc. And allways is yellow!!!!!!

If you could help me, i will be veeeeeeeeeeeeeery thankful.
I spent with this problem "million" hours without reason.
Is possible somehow restore all lightroom settings and presets and everything? to delete my personal settings. Maybe something happened there. I really dont knkow.

Thank you for every idea.

It would help to know what operating system & hardware you are using. I'll go out on a limb and say that tt sounds like your monitor needs a different profile, or possibly the color temperature needs adjusting, but that information often resides within the monitor hardware, not the OS.

In virtually 1''% of cases reported like this here and on the Adobe LR User to User Forum, it has turned out to be a corrupt Video Profile. I am assuming, Liv, you are on a PC. LR sends things to the Monitor differently than other Apps, even PSCS, so images will show differently in LR under this circumstance.

Please do fill in your Signature with OS, System and Gear, to better serve you down the line. And do post if a Corrupt Video Profile is the problem or not. An easy test is to temporarily swap to another profile, like sRGB (not recommended to keep at) just to check if your current profile (canned one that came with the Monitor[?], often junk)
is or not corrupt.

If it is a corrupt profile either do the Visual Color Calibration or use a Hardware Calibrator to do a new one.

1. Well my software is Windows XP, Lightroom newest - 1,3,1
Hardware - Intel Pentium 4CPU, 3,2' GHZ, 2G RAM
LCD - Samsung SyncMaster 226 cw on Nvdia GeForce 66'' GT

2. What is video profile, how can i change it

Thank you very much

I meant Monitor Profile for Video Driver. Not on a PC so I don't know where to go to fix this on one. Maybe a PC'er will come along to help.

Got to your desktop. Right clik on the mouse, and select Properties. In the Display Properties window, click on the Settings tab at the far right. Then click on the Advanced button on the right at the bottom. This will bring up a new window. Look for a tab that says Color Management. If present, clik on the tab and change your monitor's profile. If sRGB is not currently set, choose that from the choices if it is available. Appy the setting and close the windows. See how LR now behaves. If no change, reboot the machine and see how LR behaves. If there is still a problem, check to see if the change that you made to the Color Management tab is still in effect. If so, report back here for more suggestions.

Also, if your monitor has OSD controls (On Screen Display), make sure the color temperature is either set to sRGB or 65''k. These somehow might have been reset, but I doubt it. If your monitor has control software that installs on your machine, re-install it. Good luck.

Sort of same issue...

I am having that same issue, sort of. I'm currently running Vista Ultimate (32bit), an Nvidia GeForce 88''GT OC, with a tri-display of one Samsung 225bw and the two secondary displays as LCD72v. Lightroom is only used on the samsung, and the device profile is set to the system default (sRGB IEC61966-2.1). I have run a calibration test and everything seems just fine.

However, at approximately the same time lightroom developed the strange orange cast I now see over my photos, the bottom layer of the histogram also changed from a black/white/grey

to this strange tan/orange

Any clues as to what setting this is and how it might be changed? The histogram is the same in the black and white photos as well.

Thanks

At approximately the same time as what? The calibration?

If you drag Lightroom to one of the other monitors, how does it look?

Try removing the monitor profile from Vista and after a reboot see if that changes anything.

at approximately the same time lightroom developed the strange orange cast

When I move it to the other monitor everything on the monitor changes to yellow, including the lightroom panels and fonts, as well as the images, which then become more yellow. I then move it back to the main monitor and everything looks normal, except for the photos and the histogram.

I was playing with the settings and options in lightroom at approximately the same time the histogram change occurred. I have not had any changes in hardware other than the graphics card. The histogram was orange before this change, and continued to stay orange after the change.

I did change the monitor profile a couple of times to random other ones and restarted each time, and nothing changed. The profile is back to its default setting, which it has always been (even prior to the graphics card change).

I will try reinstalling lightroom and see if this changes anything, although I was hoping there was just a setting that I had mistakenly changed and I could figure out what it was and change it back..

Reinstall did not work

So the reinstall didn't work either. That color portion on the histogram reflects changes in shading, doesn't it? Is there a way to change what it is monitoring in the photo?

Do you have all those monitors connected to the same video card? I'm not a Windows person, but my recollection is that Windows only allows one color profile per card, not per monitor. So your calibration is off (way off!) for that monitor.

On Windows, as I understand it, you need one video card per monitor if they are to have custom profiles.

That is my experience with Windows. If I connect a second monitor to demonstrate software to someone I have to remove the colour profile on my laptop or the second monitor colours are generally awful.

I had this problem and I am using a similar monitor: Samsung 225BW.

The way I fixed it was simple. Go to Display Properties, click Settings tab, click Advanced button, click Color Management tab.

You probably see your Samsung monitor profile like SM225BW. Click Add, and select "sRGB Color Space Profile". It's the standard RGB profile provided by windows. Click ok, and select the sRGB profile and click "Set As Default."

For me it fixed the problem.

Yes this fixed the problem by eliminating the like corrupt Samsung Profile, except sRGB is not a proper Monitor profile. You would be much better off to you the built in, by eye, calibration software to calibrate your Monitor or get a Hardware Calibrator and do it that way (the recommended way).
