Import Import without Subfolders with Years and Dates Please?

Is there anyway to import images in to catalogs without all of these complicated year and date sub folders? I used to just import my files very simply into a named folder and that was it, that's all I want. I don't want all thess arrows and years etc., under my folders. Always kept track of dates in meta data. There should be a way to override this. If anyone knows please help. My catalogs used to be so simple and the way I like it. Thanks

I only import files and then move them into a particular annual folder I created in an ED. I name the folder by event and date and drag it into an annual folder. If I wanted to do what are trying to accomplish I just just not put any dates on anything. Import folder "Birds at River" and just keep it in a master folder. Maybe because I name everything it is less complicated?
