I'm trying to import an Elements 5.' catalog in to LR 2.2 but it only manages to import about two-thirds of the photos. I configured LR to copy the photos in to a new date formatted structure and LR successfully read all of the dates and copied all of the photos across. It just didn't import about a third of them. If I import directly from the new or old directories then it picks up the photos fine this time but I'm then missing out on the tags from the old Elements catalog. The only clue I have is that in the log file, the paths look a bit screwy:

The following files were not imported because they could not be read. (3361)
F:/photos/2''3/British Columbia\P915'''1.JPG
F:/photos/2''3/British Columbia\P915'''2.JPG
....

However if I look at the catalog in Elements then the General Properties shows paths with all backslashes.

Anyone seen this before and/or have any idea how to fix it?

Thanks,
David

are you sure these photos are connected in the PSE Organizer?

Also, go into the PSE Organizer and select File->Catalog->Recover. Then try importing into Lightroom again.

Still no luck

Thanks for the suggestion Paige. The photos are all connected in Elements. I tried the recover option but I still get the same problem when I try another import.

Regards,
David

FYI: the solution from Adobe that eventually fixed this problem was to use Elements "File > Move" option to relocate all of the images. After this, the import completed successfully.

Thanks for posting back David!

Yes, thanks for posting ... however, although this worked, it doesn't seem to me like moving files this way should have made a difference. Did Adobe say why this works?
