When I put a CF card from my camera in the card reader, LR comes up, but the import does not display. That's ok. I click Import and it presents me with a choice of the card I just inserted or choose files. I click one the card.

Bug 1: It tells me there are no files

I click on choose files and it displays the directory where the files are on the card!

Bug 2: The file detail list has blanks for date taken and does not have columns for other dates and there does not seem to be a way to change it.
This is critical for me since the sony A35' raw files won't show in Vista as icons yet. I have to hold the mouse over the file name, at which point it will display the date modified. But that's a PITA. This is a bug, since LR does know how to handle these files now.

What happens if you transfer the files to a folder on your hard drive and import them from there?

How deep is the folder structure on the card - that can sometimes cause trouble?

And do the images import into Lightroom correctly once you do get them importing?

No problem at all. This only happens with the cards from my Sony A35'.

Default structure, I don't fiddle around with creating new folders in the camera, though with a 32GB card I think perhaps I should.

Yes.
