Just moved LR 2.4 to a new computer and everything seems fine, but.. BUT, I am now unable to import any photos. When I click on the Import button, the dialog box comes up, and I select my drive.. and then that's it. Nothing. and nothing else happens.
Help??
thanks!

Where are the source files located, camera, card reader, other?
Do you see the files in the Import Preview window?
If camera, or card, does Windows itself see the files, in Explorer?
If so, try copying a couple of files to a hard-drive and importing from there.

BTW, I see this is your first post, Welcome to the forums.

The source files are on a CF card in a reader. Exploer sees them fine. I copied a file over to the HD and tried importing from there. I was able to select the file and when I say choose, that dialog box goes away.. and there is nothing... no preview.. nothing, just my main screen in LR.
I'm thinking I am missing something when I moved everything to a new computer. Maybe a preference file .. but I moved all that..
thanks.

YES!! Before I was not using 2 monitors and now I am, HOWEVER, even when I have onlyl 1 monitor plugged in, I still get the same result (and yes, it is set up at that point for only 1 monitor).

Did you check the second monitor for any additional dialog boxes? Sometimes LR can move them around and "hide" them on the second monitor, even if it isn't plugged in.

If you moved everything over wholesale, perhaps rebuilding preferences could do the trick? I haven't heard of it helping in this particular case, but it can help fix funky things.

What are some of your other Import settings? Are you copying to a new location? Have you tried importing a file from your hard drive and keeping it at the current location and seeing what happens? I don't suppose you're running low on hard drive space, are you?

Bryan and Brad, thanks for trying..
This morning I made sure only one monitor was plugged in and check with settings and there was only one monitor shown (no dual monitor setup).
I closed LR, deleted the preference file on the new machine and restarted LR. Still nothing. :) HD space is fine, new machine 62'gig.
Under Edit/Preferences/ Import, I have the same things checked on the old machine and the new one. I have been able to get the dialog box up that shows where the files would be copied to, but yes, it would be to a different location if I could get that far to change it.
thanks guys.

Sometimes when switching between 1 and 2 monitor setups, LR will put the dialog on the second monitor, even when it isn't attached (craziness, huh?).

I'd try hooking up the second monitor and checking there...

Brian,
Tried that, nothing on the other monitor. I just can't get the next dialog box to come up. Does Adobe have a forum where I can post a question?
Kind of stuck right now... can't import my photos!
thanks!

Re: Import not working 2.4, moved LR to new computer .. SOLVED

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. I ended up calling Adobe and got through to a great guy "John" who was able to help. I must have copied files over to the new computer when LR was open on one or both computers.. copied over the locked files too.. ugh.
Anyway, I recopied my catalog and everything is fine now. Guess I should have tried that first!
Anyway, thanks to those that tried. I highly recommend calling Adobe if you really get stuck.
