Hi All,

I have Lightroom import problem that to be frank is driving me nuts, details outline below

Lightroom:
Select Import
Create Target folder

Select a the "Photographs" folder (root folder).
Select the "2024"sub-folder
Create a new sub-folder which is date oriented (241010).
Chose this newly created folder

The Import starts.
Immediately a new folder is created in the root directory entitled 241010 - the same name as previously created for my target folder.
All images are imported to this new folder.

For clarification

Target folder defined as
Photographs/ 2024/ 241010

Actual folder images imported to created by Lightroom
Photographs / 241017

Additionally, after transfering these images into my target folder (Photographs/ 2024/ 241010) If HDR or Panoramic processing is carried out, the resulting processed images are placed in the folder created by Lightroom - Photographs/241010 (no longer where my baseline images reside}.

Carried out database integrity checks , but to no avail. No other error Lightroom indications are displayed.

Have connected with an Adobe agent, via chat, who could not resolve this issue. To be fair to him, I believe he had too many other support conversations in play at the time

Any ideas regarding this issue would be appreciated

Regards,
Barry

A Screen shot of your Destination panel would be more helpful (to me) than a verbal explanation.
In my screen shot below, note the highlighted folder. It is the target folder. At the top is a checkbox that defines the subfolder that will be the destination folder created by the import process. In my setup I create (if needed) a year folder, month folder and a day folder.

In your case it sounds like you do not have the right parent folder highlighted.

Thank you Clee01 and Johan for your replies.

I carried out the method outline above, but to no avail.
With reference to "Capitalisation Error" this is a new on on me.
Could somebody please elaborate? - thank you!

FWIW, the Capitalization error iw where a folder is listed twice, once capitalized and once not. This causes two entries in the folder panel that point to the same folder.

Thank for the LcR Capitalisation explanation, I do not think this is the case with my problem.
However just had a LcR error code 2067 generated
Not sure what is causing this problem, or if this issue is correctable.
Any advise would be much appreciated - thanks in advance
Barry

Thank for the LcR Capitalisation explanation, I do not think this is the case with my problem.
People often think that, but often it is the case nevertheless. The problem is that Lightroom does not necessarily show two times the same folder with a difference in capitalization. Often it simply shows the same subfolder twice, and the problem folder is hidden higher up in the hierarchy. Trying to make that folder visible (by using ‘Show Parent Folder’) then throws up an error similar to what you show here. So please post a screenshot of your folder panel, as requested. What we need to see illustrated is what you earlier said:
Additionally, after transfering these images into my target folder (Photographs/ 2024/ 241010) If HDR or Panoramic processing is carried out, the resulting processed images are placed in the folder created by Lightroom - Photographs/241010 (no longer where my baseline images reside}.

Thanks for a detailed explanation. My assumption that one folder would show capitalised and the other lower case was incorrect.
Copied here with a screen shot of my folders, as requested.
Again, many thanks for your advice.
Barry

Yes, this looks quite possibly as the capitalization error. The folder with the capitalization problem would not be ‘Photographs’, but most likely that parent folder ‘_PHOTOGRAPHIC ARCHIVE’, or even its parent folder. The described fix is performed on the ‘Photographs’ folder outside the hierarchy, because that would be the highest folder shown twice by Lightroom Classic. Here’s the fix: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/capitalization-catalog-error/
