import from disc/card

Hi Just joined and first post hope I am doing it correctly.
My Question: If LR is not loaded or minimized and I put a disc with raw files on LG will load fully and I will get the LG import window... no problem.... But if LG is fully loaded on screen and I put the same disc in nothing happens, but if I select "import" either from the file menu or the button in library mode I do not get the LR import window but a small "Microsoft type windows import window" which is not of much use because it does not reconize raw files the are displayed as icons... this cant be nomal can it? or is it my LR is not set up correctly? LG???? I don't know what this is.

The default icon in Windows for most Raw photos is just a generic icon.

What operating system? What version of Lightroom?

LG = LR typing error the other items are on my profile but they are Vista/2.6 respectively. MIke

It's ok, I'm with you. Welcome to the forum!

You're seeing the OS dialog first, and in there you select the folder - and then when you press Ok (or whatever it says) it'll take you to the LR import dialog where you can see the previews.

Yes, I get the same window. You get multiple choices- just close the window and click on import. Then, you get the right import window.
