I have recently consolidated my catalog. All is well. I am checking out the various chips from several cameras that I loan to family to make sure all the pictures are in the catalog. Usually, LR (Classic V 9.3) will "gray out" the previously imported pictures (excepting those that were rejected but only deleted from the catalog) and marl the others as selected. Today, the import shows ALL the pics on the chip. Yes, I have selected "do not import suspected duplicates." If I import, all these will all be duplicated in LR, which is a pain to fix.

Also, I am copying these pics to the same external drive as before.

Hi Clif,
It happened to me in two occurrrences:
1. When I renamed the photos on the 1st import applying an import preset, but then I forgot to do so in the second import.
2. Choosing a different folder structure upon import.

Do you apply renaming presets? Did you chose the same destination folder?

God Dag, Umberto!

It looks like I used a different folder as I was putting all the new photos on an external drive. I imported most of the others earlier onto the HD on the Mac. I had already moved the old files onto the external drive using Lightroom (of course). Thanks to everyone there who have greatly helped me to finally organize my folders and catalogs, especially combining the catalogs into one good one. I have changed computers many times in the last several years and had catalogs scattered all over. Finally, I have almost everything in the right places so I can get back to processing.

p.s. I hope Stavanger is as beautiful as ever, it has been more than ten years since I was there. I worked for Mobil Oil and loved their office on the harbor.
