Ian,
I recently "updated" my LIGHTROOM to 1.4. what a disaster it has been for me. Ifater I scanned numerous negatives and supposedly saved them, they are now "OFFLINE" and /or "MISSING" and "unavailable"??????
I need those images.
Can you lease HELP me with this one?
Many thanks

I am so sorry that I relied on Lightroom to import my new negative High res. scans.
I have a book proposal due today and I am still unable to retrieve my images because of the big "?", (i.e. missing files/images offline) error message.
How can retrieve them???
MANY THANKS TO YOU ALL for you help!:(

Sounds like you have saved your images to a drive that is not connected to the computer at the moment.

Did you, by chance, Import the images into LR and then delete the originals from disk? I'm unclear what you mean when you say that you, "supposedly saved them", as LR doesn't have a save function (other than to save metadata). This is a common confusion for new LR users. Import doesn't somehow copy the images into the database, it only makes links in the database to the existing images on disk. If you can give a bit more detail on exactly what you were doing, someone here might be able to give you more help. We need to know what type of files they were, what steps you took, what system (Win or Mac) you're using, etc.

Lightroom doesn't offer scanning facilities, so as Andrew & Bruce have said, it would certainly help to have an idea of what you did to get to this point.

Ignoring the fact that Lightroom can't find them at the moment, do you where you put them on your hard drive?

Probably one to chalk up to experience - don't use unfamiliar software when under a deadline!
