If no Color Labels and use LrW ➞LrC, better solution for mobile labeling than keywords?

Having just set up LrW to use the Lr camera in the Lr App in my attempt to streamline my iPhone photography workflow, I also just found out LrW does not support Color Labels, which I use extensively in LrC to mark the development status of each photo. (If interested: Don't Delete; Develop; Developing; Developed; For Sale.) It's easy to set up Keywords for the LrC Color Labels (e.g.: "LabelRed", or "LabelDontDelete"), apply them in LrW, set up Smart Collections in LrC to group by those Keywords, and manually apply the Color Labels periodically. Does anyone do this? Is there a better system?

I have upvoted the request for Color Labels in LrW.

As well as the colour labels, in their infinite wisdom Adobe decided not to sync keywords between the mobile apps and real Lightroom. Collections/Albums do sync properly.

Negligence, mismanagement, or is Adobe’s goal to hobble a cross-platform Lightroom workflow?

Call it what you will, Adobe will have heard far worse over the years. They were quite clear from the introduction of the Lightroom Desktop app in 2017 that keywords (and some other things) would not sync between Classic and the Cloud, and so far they have not budged from that position at all. So anyone intending to integrate any of their Lightroom apps into their Classic workflow will have to find a workaround for those things that do not sync.

I use both Lightroom and Lightroom Classic. I import using Lightroom and these images sync to Lightroom Classic. I wait until the images have synced to Lightroom Classic before adding labels or keywords.

Thanks for your workflow details. It seems likely it will be easier to use your workflow — with the added specification that the label-adding and keywording need to done not only after syncing but __in__ LrC — than to develop one that allows for keywording and pseudo-color-labeling in LrW that percolates through to LrC.

I am glad to see that photos edited in LrW are badged correctly in LrC — at least for "has been cropped" and "has Develop adjustments".

Still working this out, but my workflow will likely include, after auto-importing to LrC, group by Smart Collection the photos I edited in LrW and for each:
  • make a virtual copy
  • move the virtual copy to the top of the Stack
  • reset the original to "as imported"
  • adding color label corresponding to their degree of "doneness" (which is what I use the {UI-privileged metadata} "Color Label" for),
  • [optional] keyword
I will likely create a Keyboard Maestro macro to perform the first four of the bulleted actions.

I always group into Collections by recording event, and process those as batches. So the next step for me will be to assign to Collections by "shoot", and then keyword, label, and rate in my usual way.

Thanks for the info, which I didn't know. Adobe is to be applauded for mapping their road and building it as mapped.

I am not calling it a name — I am seeking a correct description of the action and the reason for the current state of syncing in the Lightroom ecosystem. From the information you provide the correct description is that Adobe chose to hobble cross-platform syncing.
