Identifying edited and non-edited pictures

I was wondering if there was a way in LR to sort or separate pictures by which ones have been edited or touched-up within LR to those that haven't been. I have a folder with close to 1''' pictures in it, some of which I have edited and some of which I haven't, and I want to go ahead and delete the non-edited ones because I forgot to flag them as rejects when I was initially going through them. I was looking at the different attributes you could sort your pictures by in LR but wasn't able to find a way to only show all the edited pictures within a folder.

When I bring files into LR I apply a develop preset to everything. Just a little more sharpening, clarity, vibrance to give me a better starting point for my processing. As a result all the files have the little develop symbol in the corner. Is there any automatic way to show that I have done further work on a file? I could manually flag it or something, but when I've tried this I inevitably forget on a few. The best thing would be if LR did not put the symbol on a file until after I had made other adjustments, but I doubt that's possible. Any ideas?

Lightroom isn't very powerful with regard to filtering rules (compared with an email or firewall filter, for instance), so you have to be a bit flexible and work around what it *can* do.

To this end, I would have a smart collection for images with presets applied with the rules:
develop preset is true
adjustment is false

I'd have another smart collection for images with adjustments with the rule:
adjustment is true

If you really apply these same changes to just about every file on Import, change Lightroom's defaults to apply these changes rather than doing it with a Develop Preset on Import. If you need help with that, just let us know.

[/quote] I need help with that. I already import with develop settings set to "None". How do I change LR's Defaults to "None" also?

Set up an image exactly as you'd like Lightroom's defaults to be. Then hold down the Alt/Option key, and note that the button at the bottom right of the right panel changes to "Set Default..." Press it.

Now those will be the default values for any sliders and selections in Develop, which are what happens when you choose None at Import time. You can still override them with Develop Presets applied at Import or later, as always.

Note that if you have Lightroom set to have different defaults per camera or per ISO value (see the Presets tab in Preferences), you may need to repeat this process for each combination. Also note that if you have Apply Auto Tone Adjustments checked, that will override whatever you set by the process I described above.

Yeah mark, great idea. I assume then that the little adjustment icon won't appear until I make some further adjustments. Thanks.

And one other hint for you - show the Metadata filter bar, and select Develop Preset from the column headers. That'll show you Default, your preset names for presets applied to those images, and 'custom' for any that have been adjusted further.
