I loaded up three days of photos into my external hard drive then imported them into
Lightroom on my Mac. I worked on some of them and then closed out Lightroom. When I reopened Lightroom a couple of days later they no longer appear in my Lightroom catalog after I start up Lightroom. They are still on my external hard drive. I tried to re-import them but they're all greyed out and will not import. I went into my external hard drive and clicked on one of the pictures which opened in Preview. It said the photo was locked. This hasn't happened to me that I can remember. I must have screwed up somehow. Can anyone help me fix this problem?

If the images are greyed out in the import dialog, that means they are already imported. The reason you do not see them is probably because you have selected a collection or folder that does not contain them. They should be visible in the ‘All Photographs’ collection however. The locked photo on disk is probably just a coincidence, that has nothing to do with what Lightroom shows.

You are right. When I look in "All Photographs" I see them. I tried to put them into a new folder and Lightroom said all Photos selected are missing. Is there a way I can re-import them from my external hard drive.
