but for the utter life of me I cannot get my head around the whole catalogue thing. I made the monumental decision to move my images 'up' on my folder tree and now all my folders and images are 'missing', they still display but all have a nice juicy '?' near them.
a) I am sure it is very simple but how do I get LR to figure out where the images are now? I keep being asked to locate them so i click on th enew location and it says it's already there ..... well in that case they are not missing are they mr Lightroom?
b) I really, really want to love this program as it potentially solves a lot of problems for me re. workflow but the software just does not like to use the folder tree as a reference, it keeps wanting to use a catalogue for some reason. Why was it designed like this? i am sure there is a good reason but it baffles me, you'd think that so long as it recognises the xmp sidecar files there is no need for a 'catalogue' at all .... just refer to the folder tree.
