How/when can I check file sizes?

I'd like to know how and when during the whole photo editing process can I use Lightroom to check the file size of what I'm working with, in both Megapixels and megabytes.

I realize that Lightroom doesn't alter original photos (the whole non-destructive photo editing idea). However what I do now is I export the file, open it with Adobe Photoshop CS2, and check the photo for megapixel and megabyte size. Is there a faster way to do this? Can I somehow get my info before exporting?

Pressing the "I" key while in Develop Module will show you the current pixel dimensions. Mega Pixels is a multiplication of these two values.

If your intent is to down or upsize on export, you can use Windows to do this. If you have your Export dialog set to show the folder after export, you can use Windows Explorer to give you the size. In Windows, you can select the exported file,right-click and select properties. This will tell you the file size in MB and pixel dimensions. Then there is no need to open Photoshop

In the metadata panel, set to "All", you can view the File Size and Pixel dimensions of your photos. Naturally, on export, the file size may change.

Why the concern over file size?
