I have one photo on my card that I edited and exported. For some reason the CR2 file became locked and I was unable to rename it or do anything with it. I uploaded it again from the camera card, but it this time it comes in locked and this time I can't even edit it. Lr recognized it and gave it the same name with a "-2." I went to "Get Info," then Sharing and Permissions and it says I can Read & Write (but I can't). The little padlock in the lower right corner is greyed out. Fortunately I have the edited copy as a jpeg and it is in Lr and not locked. It is the only photo that loads from the card that is locked.

1. How did this happen?
2. How do I unlock the file?

Use Finder to locate the file in the file system. Using GetInfo, you can unlock the file. Whether locked or unlocked, Lightroom can always read the file. There is no requirement to write metadata back to the original files
