Huge mistake. I have the 20GB storage option and on my trip to Ireland I thought I’d try out the Lr Sync feature. So in the Lr mobile app settings on iPhone I switched on add photos from camera roll.

when I got some wifi I got some images synced over to the iPad. Used my iPad while on the go to edit some photos,

I shot 120GB worth of photos so when I got home with WiFi of course my 20GB got full.

So I deleted all Ireland photos from my camera roll after I imported them into Lr classic.

All set, right? No more photos that can be queued up for sync.

Wrong.

I forgot to switch off the auto import setting from camera roll.

But I deleted all photos off the camera roll that were shot since I got back from Ireland.

Still the iOS Lr mobile app on my iPhone is queueing up hundreds of photos from before I switched off the auto import setting.

All of those photos are already in my Lr Classic catalog.

So after I tediously unsynced the synced photos from the 20GB storage space, my iPhone now still has a bunch of photos in the queue that don’t even exist anymore in the camera roll. So I am getting the same photos synced to Lr classic, now as duplicates.

Any way to crush the queue?

Delete the app? But only once you’re sure you won’t lose any photos.

Thanks John for helping out (y).
That is quite a rigorous solution proposal, from which I conclude there is really no way to interfere with the queue.
I will consider it. First I'm going to assess the damage and the time I need to sort everything out.

Thanks!

Do you have iCloud for Photos enabled on the iPad? If so, turn it off as that's possibly the culprit.

I am astounded. As I am clearing up CC cloud storage by going to "All Synced Photographs" and selecting photos and clicking "Remove from all synced photographs", Lr Mobile on iPhone keeps just feeding the queue with more images from Ireland, even though those photos have long been deleted from the camera roll and even though these photos are not visible anymore in the "Device" tab in Lr mobile app on iPhone.

But those photos were shot and added to the camera roll while the "automatically add from camera roll" setting was on in the Lr Mobile app, so I suppose it just keeps stubbornly syncing those photos. But where from? The camera roll is empty.

So I went to iPhone settings -> iPhone storage and found that the Lr Mobile app is holding 29GB of data. So even though I've deleted all those Ireland images from the camera roll, the Lr Mobile app is secretly retaining all of those images to put them into the queue when it gets the chance, i.e. when I free up some cloud space.

Figure that. I thought I got rid of syncing my Ireland images by cunningly deleting them from the camera roll.

Duhh, nothing secret about it. They're visible in the Lr Mobile app "Lightroom" tab.

I think I need to let the whole CC sync process sink in a bit more...

Update: the queue appears to have slimmed down to under 20GB, i.e. the syncing is continuing and the cloud storage is steady at 12GB used. So I'll just let it sync for the night and "Remove from all synced photographs" in the morning. It should be done then.

The Lr Mobile app "type" filter shows 538 photos in Lr CC, 237 of which are 14 pro Max RAW files, which can easily account for 12GB of storage.

Sync done.

I noticed something odd in this whole sync process:

So to get to Lr Classic there are several sync steps:
Step 1. Camera roll to Lr Mobile app, Device tab
Step 2. Lr Mobile app: up sync from device tab to Lr CC Cloud
Step 3. Lr Classic: down sync from Lr CC Cloud to Lr Classic

I do understand that Step 2 - syncing new images from the Lr camera roll to Lr CC cloud - is impossible when the storage is full. Evidently.

But Step 3 - syncing images from Lr CC Cloud to Lr Classic - should not be impossible even when storage is full, as it doesn't require any additional Lr CC Cloud storage to offload those images.

Yet even syncing from Lr CC cloud to Lr Classic halts when the 20GB storage space is full. This doesn't seem logical.

The only reason I can think of is that when syncing has to halt due to storage full, all syncing is halted for all steps, period,

Opinions?
