How to search, and, my question

I tried to do a search for this question. This is what I got. Could someone please interpret it for me? Also, my question was, can I delete version 1 using add/remove programs now that I have upgraded to version 2?

If this term contains a wildcard, please make this term more specific"
What is the minimum length, and what is a wildcard-one-eyed jacks?:D

1 - what did you search for? The search facility here isn't very friendly!

2 - Shouldn't Add/Remove Programs leave behind the user settings Sean? It's a while since I was seriously windows based. Anyway Ernie, backup your presets and catalog and then uninstall away - worst case scenario you'd have to reinstall 2.', but all reports I've heard are that it uninstalls without affecting 2.'.

I tried two searches. I've forgotten the exact words I used, but I think the first was uninstall version 1. I added a word or two to the second, and then gave up. What is a wildcard anyway?
I only have one develop preset I use and I know the settings on that, and I don't use a catalog anyway, so that won't bother me to lose them. I just didn't want to go to the trouble of uninstalling 1 and then having to re-install 1 and 2 again because 2 was crippled without 1. Did that make sense?

The search engine wants (it seems) three characters before it will do it's thing. Try 'uninstall version 1.'' - that worked for me just now...
