Hi guys. I have been using light room for a while and have been adjusting my raw shots using lightroom. I am intending to format my computer in a few days time.

Doing so would means reinstalling lightroom and losing all my adjustment I have made to my raws.

Anyone know how I can export the database so that all the adjustment, keywords etc would be preserve?

Also I am thinking of having lightroom accessing photos saved in a server so that I just need to do adjustmnt in a pc. And my laptop could see the same adjustment etc. Anyone know how to do that?

The easiest way to save your adjustments is to find the .lrcat file(s) that you are using and save them; once you have reformatted and re-installed Lightroom, just return the .lrcat file(s) to their original folder(s). I assume your photos are not on the hard disk that are being formatted ... you need to save your photos as well. Also, not a bad idea to save the subfolders next to your .lrcat file(s) as these contain the previews that have been created by Lightroom.

If you want your photos on a server, you would simply move them there using the Lightroom folders panel (or move them there in Windows and then reconnect in Lightroom).
