Hi All,

I am not so happy with the presets panel in LR Classic even though this has already improved slightly but it is still very unpractical to organize this panel menaing to create folders and have the preset groups where you want etc.

In the window for managing presets you can basically only select what you want to see or not but you cannot even create a new group.

I have now several blocks or preset groups scuh as the general ones from LR which are separated by a line from the next block where I have other special ones and that is gain separated by the user presets group so I have if quite organised but still its not optimal.

How are you guys doing this, any suggestions? For example if I need to make a new group I need to create just some preset and create a new group for that that I am able to move for example presets into this group. Why can there not be simple buttons for creating groups and managing the presets etc?

Regards,
Tom

Use the link at the top of the page to create a feature request at the official Adobe feedback site (though I imagine one already exists for this topic).

Personally, the only niggle I have is the need to create a preset in order to create a group.....beyond that I don't really have a problem with managing my presets (though I don't have presets running into the hundreds and thousands as some users appear to).

Thanks Jim, yes the need to create a preset in order to create a group is also my main "problem". Basically its possible to have workarounds with this, its just not convenient

Yes, while I like some aspects of the changes to presets, they were badly implemented with little apparent thought given to how they were managed by real Lightroom users.

See Fix Presets Lightroom Plugin which might help.

Hi John,

I installed the fix presets plugin and it seemed to work but when I clicked on fix ordering all my user presets etc disappeared from LR and they are really gone, have checked in any possible location on the harddisk where they could be. Under settings the user presets folder is now empty.

I even went back to a previous catalogue backup version but that also didnt restore them, really bad that this happened, I dont wanna loose all my presets.

Regards,
Tom

You should contact the plugin author, Tom. I only know roughly what it does and how it may work.

User>Application Support>Adobe>Camera Raw>Settings is where presets are now stored.

thanks, I will figure it out somehow

yes I know this location but its empty, only the standard presets are there

Yes you were right, I was not looking in the hidden folder. I found all of them now in there.

So all my presets are in the hidden folder but not showing up in LR anymore. In which folder would I need to copy the preset folders with the presets inside in order to make them show up again in LR?

Regards,
Tom

but thats were they are right now but they are not showing up in LR anymore. When you click in LR under preferences and presets on the button to show the location of presents, then you are not coming to this location
