On a regular basis I get some images I import into my Lightroom catalog. There are always some images that have labels, star ratings or keywords that have nothing to do with my uses of these things. So the first thing I do is remove them all. Is there a way for me to tell Lightroom not to import them in the first place. The Keywords in particular as it makes a terrible mess of my keyword list. Asking for images without these things is not an option. I’ve done some searching and not found an efficient way to do this so I’m guessing I need to do the cleanup post import but my fingers are crossed that I’ve missed something.
Thanks for any ideas.

Solution
Create a preset that clears keywords, flags, ratings and anything else you want to strip off those images. Then select that preset when you import. When you create the preset, check the box of the desired items but then set the value to no starts, or unflagged or nothing in the KW's. For example, I have a "Clear Keywords" preset I use on import as shown below

Thank you so much! I created one and tried importing some photos ratings, colour labels and keywords. They imported cleanly. Once I straighten out the current mess, future imports shouldn’t make a mess. That is so helpful.

You can apply such presets to already imported images by using the Metadata Panel in the Library Module. If you select multiple images in the grid view it will be applied to all selected images at the same time.

Thanks Dan. This is useful info for other folks besides Helen (e.g. me).
