How to handle crappy monitors?

I am just starting my first online gallery, and was happy until I tried viewing it on another monitor than mine. Mine has accurate color rendition. Oh boy what a disappointment. Colors are all washed out, and the picture looks bland, contrasts look destroyed. In other words, this monitor is crappy as are most anyway. It's really funny because when I go to photographers websites with the same crappy monitor, images really look good and don't show the level of washed out colors I experience with my photos. So what's going on here? Is it common practice to push up vibrance or saturation or whatever before publishing a jpeg online, so crappy monitors would not destroy them? Let me know what your thoughts are... Thanks.

You could always put a greyscale bar on your site somewhere to help show people that they have it set wrong.

Many just dont know, and their TV's will be set even worse.

How did you create the files for the gallery? If you used Export, did you choose sRGB as the color space?

Yes the jpegs are sRGB.
