How to Consolidate Catalog????

I have a Macbook pro, and I work on the labtop for most of the time. but my hard drive is only 12'gb.. it gets full very soon.

I would like to export my catalog once awhile to a external hard drive. and then delete my catalog on my labtop.
my question is.. how do i CONSOLIDATE the catalogs on my external hard drive to a big catalogs?

This can help me access the old photos much easier, and also help for saving space on my labtop.

You can open one of the catalogs on the external drive (and I assume that you have exported the negative files as well, if not you would need to) and then use import from catalog to import from your other catalogs.
