I've recently started using LR 2.5 64bit over the 32bit version that I've been using for years. And now I'm having problems resizing my RAW images for email.

Before I've always just selected jpeg, adobeRGb 1998, and a quality setting of about 5' within the export dialog. With these settings I was always happy with file sizes around 1''kb and dimensions perfect for viewing within your email inbox.

Now, even with the quality setting of "'" I'm getting file sizes of 3''kb with dimensions of 4272x2848!

I've search within these forums and have read where people were talking about cropping within the develop mode. I'm used to cropping all the time for improving the look of the picture but never to change the overall image size.

Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

If you want something less than 4272x2848 upon export, then you have to enter the new dimensions in the Image Sizing portion of the Export dialog box.

I believe you are confusing compression (the quality slider) with image size (the Image Sizing section in the Export Window). These are not the same.

Thanks for the reply dj_paige. I knew I was confusing something.

I've been doing some test runs with different 'quality' settings and yes, you're right, it just changes the compression.

However, it used to work differently under the 32bit version, I swear.

Now to the "Image Sizing section in the Export Window" part. The only Export Window I know of looks like this. And I don't see an image size anywhere in this window.

Point me in the right direction anyone?

Hena,

Just scroll down a little within your export window, and you'll see the section refering to Image Sizing.

  • [li]Under File Settings, you set the quality (compression)[/li]
[li]Under Image Sizing you tell it what measurements the image should end up with

Holy moley!

Thanks gossweiler!!

I didn't even see that I could scroll down! I'm so blind.

This just opened up a whole new world of Lightroom to me.

Thanks again!
