How to add 'canned' templates

Mod Note: Moved from Tips/Tricks.

Wow I feel like an Idiot. I have found some templates and I want to drag them into my Lightroom Program but I can't find the correct folder. Can you point me in the right direction.

Thanks for the help and advice.

Forrwhat, when you say templates, what sort of templates, exactly? I imagine you mean Develop Presets? What OS? Since you can't find the proper location, I'm guessing Windows. :)

If both of those are true, then the Develop Presets need to be copied to here:

Windows XP - [systemdrive]\Documents and Settings\[your username]\Application
Data\Adobe\Lightroom\Presets\

Windows Vista - [systemdrive]\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe
\Lightroom\Presets\

The problem is that these folders are set to 'hidden' in a default Windows installation. You will need to Windows Control Panel > Folder Options > View tab; about 1' items down, enable the radio button for 'Show hidden files/folders'. You can also get to that setting from inside Windows Explorer, Menu Bar > Tools > Folder Options > ....

If this isn't it / doesn't help let us know.

BTW, Welcome to the Forums. (Thanks for searching the threads for the right place to post. Unknown to you, we try to reserve that particular forum for actual Tips, rather than questions about the Tips. Not a big deal, but that's why I moved your post.)

Welcome aboard.........To help us help you could you please take a moment to fill in your signature in the "userCP' that is found in the nav-bar at the top left of the page - thanks.

In "preferences" under the tab presets theres a botton "show Lightroom preset folder" if you press that it will take you to the hidden folder, and subfolders witha all templates and presets
