How do you deal with video files?

Hey guys. I find I'm shooting more and more video lately. My question to you is there anyway to ease the fact that Lightroom chokes on video files?

I'd like to come up with a reliable way to at least semi automatically import and backup movie files in a date based file structure. Any ideas?

Matthew, not quite yet.... but that doesn't mean there won't be... perhaps hold that thought?

Keep an eye on Jeffrey Friedl's site. He's experimenting with something in this arena. A few of the gurus here are beta-testing for him. (Not I, I don't do much with video).

What about the initial importing of files?

For example, my iPhone doesn't even mount as a drive so I can't simply copy the video files over. Anyone have any tips for dealing with this without resorting to using iPhoto or something?
