How do I import these files ?

I'm wanting to import files for a second time which I've previously had on LR before exporting onto an external harddrive.
Unfortunately LR is not allowing me to import them again, either from my EH or the desktop. The screenshot shows what I get.
How do I resolve this problem ?

Why do you want to import them a second time? They are already imported. If you want to create multiple versions, then use virtual copies, not duplicates.

Exporting just creates a copy. The original and all its edits remain in the catalogue.

I might also suggest that when you Import photos from a camera card for the first, AND only time, that you Import them directly to the Pictures folder hierarchy OR any other location that will be permanent!, and not to a folder on the Desktop- then you do not need to move files, folder to folder, at a later date.
