How do I clear all my filters? I can not select the total number pf photographs in my catalogue.

the screen shot below shows that I have "Filter off". I have chosen "All Photographs". There are 106274 photos in the catalogue. The bottom line says. "All photographs 106269 of 106274 Photos / 1 selected". My question is what about the 5 photos not counted? When I choose Command A only the 106269 can be selected. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong. I do a lot of filtering as I organize my catalogue and neeed to know how to be sure that all my filters are cleared.

They are probably stacked.

Try this - You select All photos and right click a photo - then you get the Expand all stacks

THANK YOU again Sting: That did the trick. I hope that setting stays that way. So when I am setting a filter I should choose "None" in the filter bar at the top of he screen and then go down to the bottom right and be sure that it says "Filter off". I hope that that will clear all filters. I wish that LRC wold desplay the active filter the way LR does

That has nothing to do with it. If you turned off filters in the filter bar, then they are also turned off in the film strip. Lightroom counts collapsed stacks as one image, however. It also displays them as one image, so that behavior makes sense. If you do not like that, then perhaps you should not use stacks. Right now you only seem to have 5 stacked images among more than 100,000 images, so it seems those 5 images may not even have been stacked on purpose.

Sure, click on the dropdown at the right end of the filter bar:
