Hi. After 20 years with photoshop I'm trying lightroom. Can I add a caption to a few specific photos in a folder of hundreds? What would be a description in file info in photoshop. I'm shooting basketball. A half time I get 12 minutes to look through about 400 shots, pick out 4, crop and edit, then upload with player names and a description. thanks in advance, Mick

Look at the metadata panel for the image. There are two fields: Title and Caption. Title is usually used for a short one line description. Caption is used for a more detailed (paragraph) description Because it is metadata and a part of the file header, it will always be a part of the original file in Lightroom Classic and can be included on any derivative file (export). It is available for the Photo Info field on prints from the print module and can be added to a slide in the Slideshow module.
