I am just someone who is trying to catalogue family/friends photos arriving from various sources, and wants to display short, interesting slideshows, or send only good shots to be printed. From the editing perspective, most of the time I just need to fix badly taken photos, but sometimes I'll unwittingly take something half artistic and want to develop those shots further too.
It's taken me quite a few hours to come up with a workflow that I like and will work for me. This by far was the hardest/longest part of getting lightroom set-up; there are so many approaches to try, and my initial ideas about organisation are very different from what I actually ended up using.
So I thought I'd share my collections panel here. It might inspire or assist someone who has just downloaded lightroom and is trying to work out how it can facilitate some kind of workflow. If anyone is interested in the actual rules used, ask and I'll post them. But I'd suggest that once you start playing around with constructing the collections, the rules are pretty easy.
