hi there! (LR won't open)

this is my first post... and i would like to preface it with a quick LIGHTROOM ROCKS! i love this program. im a old photoshop junkie, and this just fills in all the other holes that were missing in my workflow.
i do have a problem tho.
i was using the beta version, (totally hooked now) and two days ago i went in to open a cataloug i was working on, and it wouldn't open it. i am thinking, what the heck.. so i download the version 2 non beta, and now i can't open it at all. nothing. it didn't ask for a serial # or anything. it simply won't open.
ive scoured the web for days, and im at a loss.
i click on the icon on the desktop, and nothing.
right click it- run as admin, nothing.
uninstall, reinstall..over and over, nothing. i simply can't open the program. any ideas?

Hi Mystique, welcome to the forum!

Try holding down Ctrl/Opt while starting LR and let it start a new catalog. That'll give us a clue where to look.

Also go look next to your catalog file in Explorer/Finder and see if there's a *.lock file - if there is, delete it and try again.

And if that doesn't work, tell us a bit more about your machine specs - most put them in their signature (under User CP on the menu bar) so we don't keep asking!

Hi, thank you so much for replying. I have a xp machine service pack 3 intel quad 2 q 66'' @ 24' ghz i have 3.25 gb ram
i tried what you said, but it still won't open the program

Have you tried uninstalling and then re-downloading the trial? I'm wondering if the download is corrupted.

oh yes, about 6 times. and i reboot after each uninstall and reinstall. I click on the icon on the desktop, and no go. nada.

im on the phone w/ adobe now.... they anded me off to a level one teck. i will post the results. apparently it's running in the background, but not launching.

a hour and thirteen minutes later, they told me it was a windows problem and they can't help me.

Mystique, I had the same issue when I installed V2 of Lightroom. I found the answer in the Adobe Knowledge base. The link to that is http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb4'4835&sliceId=2. Basicly you need to remove the contents of the preferences folder. Did the trick for me.
