Hi

Just making myself known. I just starting using Lightroom and love it. I'd say I'm an advanced user, to a point. I know what the controls are for, for example, but putting everything into practice to make great looking photos (for photos that CAN be made great..LOL) is another matter. So I hope to learn some tricks and tips here over time. My main reason for seeking forums was the desire to find GOOD camera calibration presets for Lightroom designed for my Nikon D2''. I've found some on here already and other places as well, but as with many things in life I've found..."you're mileage may vary." Certain types of photos I've found work well with the presets I've seen so far for the D2'', but other photos it seems are not well suited at all for the presets. I'm basically looking for something that will give me (with no fuss or intervention beyond loading the preset) the look you get when using Nikon Capture NX to do RAW conversion. So far I haven't seen anything match Capture NX for raw conversion. I love the idea of using Lightroom as a one-stop shop...but the raw conversion is the only thing keeping me from going all Lightroom right now.

P.S. Lightroom is FAST...much more so than Capture NX so that's something I love about it too.

Welcome Jon, I use a D2'' as well and LR does the job for me. I don't really look at the LCD on the camera or shoot jpegs, the result I'm after is to match what I see or want to create. I am not keen generally on someone else's interpretation of a view they haven't seen. So I tweek a lot of files. But my preset does the job fairly well for most of my style.

Thanks Geoff. I think I installed your preset too. I'm trying out everything I can find to see if something shouts out to me, this is you! In general, I like the default Capture NX conversion from NEF to JPG. But I do tend to tweak most photos to get them the way I want them to look.

Here's an example. Very easy to do in Lightroom...love it
