Help with Pix in Catalog Please

This morning I was editing photos in my LR2....now I am coming back to finish and my LR is telling me my photos are either offline or missing.....and I can't for the life of me figure out how to activate them so I can finish editing. The pictures are on an external hardrive....at the time I was first editing them it showed the external drive was a G drive...now it shows the same external drive is F drive........not sure if this is creating the problem. I'm very technology challenged so I am not even sure how much sense this is making.

Hope someone will have some advice for me please!!!

You need to re-name the drive back to G drive. Somehow, you have changed the name( by accident) thus breaking the links between LR and your files. I am sure you are staring at those question marks.

In windows, the drive letters will change. I can't remember how to make it permanent ( I think it is map drive, reconnect). No worries -- your images are still there. Right click on the folder with the missing images, select update folder location, find where you have now put the files. LR will now update the database. If you do it at the top level it will find all of them.

Do a google search for mapping drive letters and you should find out how to make the drive letter permanent. Hope this helps.

Thank you both for your quick responses.

OK, so I did what you said...I found the photos....but it took me to the other drive and none of them are the edited version......and when I try to access the edited version on the other drive (which doesn't even show on my computer) it is only showing in my LR.....it says they are missing and if I try to re-import it says they are already in my library.....arrrrgggg!!!

I really want to be able to access the edited pix instead of starting all over......
any other ideas? Thank you so much!

Thank you both so much for your response. I went into my computer and found the HDrive and renamed it GDrive...and it worked..... Thank you both for all your help!
