I have my LR catalog on an external HD (drive G in PhotosGoHere file). Tonight I imported pics from a card reader (drive F) to LR (drive G PhotosGoHere). Well my new photos went into the correct file in drive G however everything else that existed on drive G formed a new folder named Nikon D7'' (F) with the PhotosGoHere and all the subfolders. The PhotosGoHere contents did not actually move so LR cannot find the pics at their new location on Nikon D7'' (F) as they still reside on my external HD drive G.It seems I just lost LRs connect with where the folders contents actually are located. I thought of re-importing the PhotosGoHere file that is on drive G however this would double the pics in the PhotosGoHere file on drive G. I know this sounds confusing but there has to be an easy solution I just don't know what it is. Any help will be appreciated!

Welcome aboard...

I'm not quite sure I fully understand what happened but you are correct, re-importing is not the way to go. You should be able to re-link the images in LR. Go to the folders in the Library module and right click on the top most folder, there is an option to 'update folder location' and you can point LR to the new folder. If the directory structure underneath hasn't changed then the images should link back up.

Hi briggsaln, welcome to the forum! Any chance of a screenshot of your folders panel? It's much quicker when we can see what you're looking at, and you're much more likely to get accurate instructions.

Click the question mark upper right of one photo and locate that missing one. Others should follow.

Or better yet, with Lightroom closed, can you replace the structure of the drive as it was before?

It looks to me like the drive letter's changed... and if it has, you could just changed it back.
