HELP LR renaming my files!

I rename my files forst in BreezeBrowser for convenience after a big culling process. I just imported them into LR and they were in the wrong order at the end of the import - I think by import time. So I sorted by image name and now I see LR has renumbered them - not in capture time.

What's going on?

You may have an import setting to rename files upon import.
You may get more help if you post a screen shot of the issue and fill in your signature so we know what system and LR version you use - it's done in the "userCP" top left of the page. Thanks.

Definitely check your import dialog, as Lightroom doesn't usually rename files on its own.

If you need to change them back, go to the Metadata panel and set it to show 'All'. There is probably a field called 'original filename'. If there is, and it includes the right filename, then select them all in Grid view and go to the Rename dialog (under the Library menu). If you go down to Edit to bring up the Template Editor, you can create a template which will just use the 'Original Filename' field, setting them all back to the filename you intended.
