help find pictures.

Last night I had some wedding files that I moved around and now lightroom tells me they are missing but doesn't give me option to find them.

All these images were already imported into lightroom. Some where in my C drive and others on my E drive. I went into zoombrowser and moved the ones from my E drive to my C drive into subfolders that I created as I moved. I also moved the the ones on the C drive into those subfolders. The main folder is Megan and the subfolders are: before, ceremony, etc....


Well I figured out how to get the ones on my E drive to show up in my C drive. I am having the problem with the pictures that are on my C drive.

So now when I open lightroom I have the folder Megan with 16'' photos and the subfolders have a total of 3'' photos. The other 13'' are in the subfolders but do not show up in lightroom. When I bring the image up in the Megan folder it tells me that the file is offline or missing.

The only way I got the E drive pictures to show up was to remove them from the library and reimport them. I am hoping I don't have to do that with the 13''. Do you have any ideas?

Thanks Mark. I never moved a folder. I only moved pictures into folders I created (not in lightroom) after they were imported.

I tried your way and it never gives me the option to locate a folder

Ah. In that case, click on the question-mark that's above one of the missing photos in the Grid. Then point LR to the new location for that photo. It should automatically find other photos that were similarly moved.

oh my I think I figured it out. I picked on a picture and clicked on "show in explorer". It then told me that the file is missing and it gave me the option to find it. I then thought well I hope I don't have to do this for everyone of them. But to my surprise the folders image count started to go up. Thanks Mark for the guick response.

Nice trick. Kai, just one more note not mentioned in this thread: In the future, if you have to move files or folders around, do it within Lightroom. This way, it will keep track... ;)
