Hello from the seacoast of Nova Scotia

I'm an amateur with limited computer skills, but some experience in photography. I purchased LR when it first came out. At the time, I thought LR was the technology of the future, and it could process digital images without resorting to Photoshop (which is beyond me).
Having used LR for some months, I think LR is a marvellous accomplishment - and the intuitive features are amazing.
However, despite the instructional books by Scott Kelby, Martin Evening and Mikkel Aaland, I am still unable to deal with chromatic and luminance noise in my images and the watercolour effect of applying fill light.
After researching third party software (ie., Noiseninja) my understanding is that plug-in software can't be used effectively with LR alone, but only in conjunction with Photoshop.
So I am going to keep tuned to the forums, and hope to learn more.
The version of LR I'm using is 1.3.1, my camera is a Canon 4'D, with 24-1'5L, 7'-2''f4L and 5''f4L lenses.
Any advice re:noise control would be much appreciated

Welcome. I love the Peggy's cove area of Nova Scotia, as well as others.

Checkout the LR/Mogrify plugin. it may help with some of your issues for eXporting files from LR. It is listed in other threads here.

Thanks for your advice.
Am presently trying to get my head around Mogrify and realize that it will help in certain problem areas, including sharpening.
However, I'm still at a loss to know the best way to deal with noise in LR without resorting to Photoshop. I get significant noise with ISO numbers as low as 2'' and good quality lenses.

NR is an area that still needs work, as you know. Only the future will tell.

Meanwhile could you fill in your Signature with System and Gear for on going reference. You can do this under User CP in the Toolbar above.
