Please help, I can't take more of this month. I shot a wedding on multiple cards. Created a folder, loaded it into Lightroom to cull and the work on. . There are 3 of us shooting so a lot of images. I have finished culling the wedding in Lightroom half way. Now I have found two extra cards which were hidden. How do I add these to the wedding, already in Lightroom, and half culled (two days work)
Without having to start the whole thing from scratch? I hope this makes sense.
Can I load that separate folder into the wedding?
How?
or do I have to add it to the folder that holds ALL the images and re-load it as a new folder and start from scratch (the beginning).
Please say no.

It's OK. If those extra cards were never imported before, just import as normal. Review the import dialog carefully to see the new files are going into the correct folder. But if you accidentally import them into a different folder, in LR you could just drag them into the right one.

  1. Select all images in the wedding folder in LrC and add a color label (say green for good). This may not be necessary but will help ID the previously loaded ones from the those coming from the new 2 cards
  2. Insert the first "new" card into your card reader and go to the import dialog
  3. In the import dialog, use mode "copy" and in the destination panel, uncheck "Into Subfolder" and set "organize" to "Into one folder"
  4. In the lower part of the destination panel, select the wedding folder containing the previously loaded wedding images
  5. Import
Repeat steps 2 through 5 for 2nd new memory card.

The images from the two new cards will now be in the wedding folder. All the work you did on the first batch of images will still be there and untouched (other than the Green color lable from step 1).

Another approach would be to import the material from the new cards into a separate subfolder (e.g., "NewCards"), process and cull them, then move the resulting ones into the wedding folder, moving them within LR of course. Finally deleting the empty "NewCards" folder.
