Is there a way to create another login for a guest to my online Lightroom photos? Or how can I share my photos for someone else to look at, comment on, rate, etc.?

Thanks!

You could create a second, free Adobe account ID under a different email address and then give that to your guests to use.

Basically, I’m trying to give access to someone to edit, comment, and rate photos for us from a remote location.

What’s the best way to do that?

In LrC, add the images to a collection
Sync that collection
In LrW, share it with them and give them edit rights

Adobe Web Albums are brilliant.

Follow the steps in the link to create an album. Upload your images to the album. Use the web features to create a link to the album. Share the link with who ever you wish.

No need to create a Gallery…. leave that as an advanced option for later.

I use this method when travelling…. as my main catalog is on my Win machine at home and I do not want to compromise the synch status between my main machine and my Adobe cloud synched collections / albums.

When travelling I use a local temp catalog (ie specific for the trip)… select obvious pics I wish to share… do absolute min processing… export the images as jpgs and upload these to the album created on my MacAir in para 2 above.

Works a dream.

This is super helpful, thanks!

Is there any way for the person that I shared it with to make edits that I can see? Or can they "like" or "favorite" in a way that I can see?

That's what giving them Edit rights does. The changes come back into your catalogue.

You may like that, but equally it may not appeal to you. So what you might do is create virtual copies and add them to the collection that you share with them.

As an aside, there are programs that allow this type of review, rate and commenting on images. They were primarily designed for videos, but can be used for still images as well. Frame.io, which is now owned by Adobe, is one of them. I use it for this purpose and to share my images with people. Something to keep in mind if you are not happy with the above solutions.

Yes, in the shared web album, anyone can leave comments or likes, and new comments will appear in Lightroom Classic, highlighted in yellow. Simply click to view the comment in the Comments panel within the Library module.

In summary, sharing collections via a web album on Lightroom's online platform is an excellent way to showcase photos to clients, customers, or friends and gather their feedback in form of comments or likes.

I am very fond of this feature and it has almost all one would need, It is perfect when used on an iPad… but very disappointing on my iPhone… the pictures are too small and lots of wasted screen real estate… maybe I am missing a trick to view the pics in full screen mode.

You just tap a picture and the metadata / adjustments sections are hidden. If it's a landscape format picture, hold the phone in landscape orientation. And moving two fingers apart is needed to zoom in.

I thought all that was obvious, so maybe I've misread you.

Thanks, Thats what I thought…. but all my attempts fail. The landscape picture looks ok, but small when phone is in vertical mode. Rotate the phone and the navigation arrows dominate. Use my fingers to zoom… the picture zooms but is still framed by the navigation panel.

I will play with it some more tomorrow… if still an issue I will post some screen grabs.

I found the “Hide Tool Bar” Safari option. That might be the key. Will play more with it tomorrow, Thanks for the h8nts.

Are you using Lightroom Web on the phone, or Lightroom mobile?

Safari on iPhone… following shared link….. which is my preferred method to share travel pics.

The vast majority I send a link to do not know Lr exists.

Hiding the Safari tool bar does not really work…. improves slightly but temporary.

Will probably update phone to v18 today and see if new ver of Safari is any better. Maybe find out how to show link pages in mobile mode or non mobile mode.

I'm running iOS18 on my iPhone, and using LrWeb in any browser on that device remains a disappointing experience.

If this is your own album, use the LrMobile app on your iPhone instead. it's a much better experience.

If this is an album shared with you by someone else, did they send an email invitation to view it? If so, when you accept the invitation the album will then appear in your LrMobile app (under the "Shared with me" heading), so you could again enjoy the better viewing if you use that app.

But there's not much you can do if you send a link to someone with no Lr subscription, they will be constrained to view using LrWeb and if that's on a smartphone it's not an ideal viewing platform. An iPad or desktop browser would be much better.

OK, if you are using LrWeb on a phone to share or view shared albums, you're inevitably limited by the device size, even if the phone does have a bigger screen.

As the sharer, use the LrM app and advise the other person to use a proper computer or at least a tablet if they want to fully appreciate your pictures.

In other words, what Jim said.

Here is a test Web Link to an Album stored on Lr Cloud/Web.. link generated by Lr.
https://adobe.ly/4h0kpR6

I can view these images on my LrC desktop, via a web link to the images in a LR Web/Cloud image or via any of the LrCloud Apps.

I am not worried about how I see them. The objective is provide an easy means for friends / family / clients to view the images.

It works perfectly on a laptop, desktop or ipad.... but is a (imho) a disaster on the iPhone.

Here is a worked example.

1728647845811.png

Bottom line....

Portraits image look good (and acceptable) when viewed on Safari on mobile, but could be improved.

Landscape pics look ok when viewed in portrait mode.... but too small and just occupy a small centre portion of the screen.

Landscapes just don't work for landscape shaped pics viewed in a browser on a phone in landscape orientation. Either too small or cropped.

Conclusion. There should be a full screen mode.

Yes... I advise people to use a laptop or desktop or tablet.
And 99.9 % of the target audience for this will never use a Lr App as they have never heard of such a tool.

And 99% of the who get this link will try to view it on a smart phone using its native browser.

:) :) :) :)

Good news re iPhone Album Safari Web display... and a little obvious ....

Here is the album view when opened in Safari... on my iPhone...

1728732384433.png

If I focus on the top right corner...

1728732466155.png

There is a little Movie Camera button. Click this to activate slide show.... ie immediate improvement... and all the usual slide show options... you need to experiment to get it to show overlaid nav button etc... but drag left and right will allow you to move to next/prev image in sequence.

Then... even better...

1728732707809.png

Click on the aA icon beside the lock icon and web url...

You may have to scroll down... to find the Hide Toolbar option.

Now I have an optimised, very close to full screen mode, view of my image.

1728732857650.png

The image is presented perfectly... no need to click on the image, zoom in or out and the image is not cropped.

In this screen grab I have activated the overlay navigation controls.

So... remember to look for the Slide Show magic button

1728733016105.png

These controls work even better on a tablet.... easier to see and use because of the larger screen size.

I think we miss this because our temptation is to click on the first image....

Awesome!

Is there a way for me to search or create a Collection of the "liked" photos in LrC?

I meant to add that…. all the comment / feedback features work also on the iPhone.

I do not use this facility for interactive feedback myself, so not familiar with the details. I will post some tests comments and likes, etc tomorrow and follow the trail back to LrC. I will post a note here with my findings.

The only feature I found in LRC was that you can sort by 'last comment time'.

1728771504376.png

This at least provides an option to look at the most recent comments first...

This is sub optimal. I hope someone else (with more experience of the Cloud / Web features might might have some suggestions.

Unfortunately, that's one of the drawbacks of using comments—they're nearly impossible to search and locate easily. Your best bet is likely the "Any Filter" plugin, which you can find here. Any Filter provides criteria for finding them.

The second half of this short tutorial provides some ideas…

Maybe we will see improvements in V14… It looks to me that it is an area ripe for improvement,

It is an old video and shows how little has changed in a long time with this functionality.
