Hello,

I have a medium sized catalog with 26,000 images in a ton of folders. When I click a folder and scroll through the images, it takes a second or two for LR to render the preview picture. I'm curious if there's a way to have LR create the preview for the entire library so scrolling is quicker? It seems like once I scroll through a few pages, those images are now previewed and don't have to render again.

Or is it reading/rendering the preview in real-time as i scroll through them?

Lightroom stores previews as jpeg's, so they don't need to be rendered again each time. There is a problem however when previews need to be re-rendered, for example because you've edited the images. Previews that are not visible in the grid will not be re-rendered until you scroll them into sight, even when Lightroom is idle. The only way to avoid that is to select all images and choose 'Library - Previews - Build Standard-sized Previews'. That will force Lightroom to render them all.
