I've got a simple idea that I think would help a lot of people out, at least those interested in black & white photography. I currently shoot RAW+JPG with my camera, and all my photos show up in Lightroom in color, as expected. I would like to experiment more with converting my photos to b&w, but it's kind of a pain to have to "develop" (even with a preset) all the photos in a folder say, just to see what they might look like in b&w. What would be really cool is if there was a key you could press that would quickly switch the rendering of the library grid to greyscale--not perfect b&w conversion mind you, just a basic greyscale--so that you could mark the ones that you want to properly develop in black & white later on.

Is anyone else interested in that idea?

Will, welcome to the forums.

Mark, can you elaborate for us just a bit? I was playing with this, and while it's easy to convert an arbitrarily large grid selection to grayscale with the V key, returning to color as a batch seems to require an Undo. That's easy enough, but it obviates any intervening culling/tagging/rating. If you do that, it seems you're back to one at a time, or using sync/autosync.

I thought I remembered the V key being a toggle color/grayscale, but it doesn't seem to be working that way for me now.

[/quote]Brad, it works as a toggle for me. Maybe the difference is MArk and I are on Macs???

Good, that's how I remembered it. I'll check the usual suspects on my setup.....

Well, it's working fine now.

(Caution: Old geezer alert) As Emily Litella would say "Ohh. Never Mind."

Thanks for the tip...I had forgotten about the V key, and while it's not ideal (since you have to undo the changes), I think I can make it work for my workflow.
