Great care needed when locating missing folders with a folder tree with duplicate folder names!

I was working with someone who has a situation similar to ones I have seen with other Lightroom users: When importing, they tick the into Subfolder checkbox in the Destination panel, and upon a subsequent import, don't notice they have that box ticked, resulting in a nested folder structure with folders that have identical names. If they don't catch it, and at some subsequent time they find those identically-named folders with the "missing" question mark overlay, if they aren't very careful to identify the correct duplicate named folder at the right place in the filesystem folder tree, an interesting issue can occur. In this case, showing is better than telling, so here is a link to a 90 second video I made

Once this happens, it's a bit of a mess to sort out, and I suspect that many people won't notice at all that this has occurred.

Thanks for the warning.

It is possible to use an import preset to eliminate this possibility. This would be my recommendation for everyone.

Agreed, but as LrC has a fairly steep learning curve, relative beginners (who are more likely not to notice they have nested their folders) may not be savvy enough to create an Import preset.
