get in a new catalog

at the end of 2''8 I had to install new harddrives. I backed up everything and got my 2''8 catalog up and running and since then have a lot of work on for 2''9.

I just realized i don't see the 2''7 photos. Can I import the catalog for 2''7 into what i have? i have a lot of edits all around and dont want to loose anything. what file should i be looking for in my back ups?

As a short cut to Mark's recommendation, have a look at File > Open Recent > which should contain a list of your most recently opened catalogs. If you've been working mostly with the 'new' catalog, it's likely that your previous catalogs are listed there.

If not, as Mark says, just navigate to the 2''7 catalog and open it. If you can't find it, let us know, we'll tell you where to look, etc.

And yes, if you'd prefer, you can import the ''7s into the current catalog.

So are you wanting to keep different catalogs for each year, or merge them into one catalog azpix?

i figured out the issue. 2''7 is in the catalog. on my old set up, it was on my c drive. right now i store pictures on F and the '7 photos files are sitting on an external drive.

am i best off moving the photo files from the external to F where i want them and then directing LR to them or is there a more efficient way to do this?

If you can ALWAYS move files within LR otherwise the link is broken and you can create big problems to relink the files to the catalog.
