Generative Expand is no longer selectable

One of the things I often do is to expand the crop beyond the image to fill out a 16:9 aspect ration so that I do not have a black border on my HDTV images. To do this from within Lightroom Classic I use the Edit In or "Edit as a Smart Object" to send the image to Photoshop. Very recently the Generative Expand option appears grayed out in the Photoshop. Edit menu. What Happened and how do I get it back?

My Photoshop version is v27.8.0

You mean in the Crop tool's options? Tried resetting the tool - right click the button on the left.

I don't know about that, but Generative Expand is also available in Camera Raw, if that helps. But you probably knew that already ;)
